The deadline for members of the public to submit their ideas for the memorial honoring the victims, survivors and heroes of the 2017 shooting at the Route 91 Harvest music festival has been extended by a month.

The 1 October Memorial Committee’s deadline for creative expressions for the permanent memorial is now Monday, Oct. 31, a month later than the original Sept. 30 due date; a Clark County news release said.

“From the earliest days following this tragedy, people have used creativity to express love, hope, sorrow and support in a multitude of ways, and our goal is to capture as many forms of those expressions as possible because they will help shape the eventual memorial that gets built,” Tennille Pereira, committee chairman, said in the release.

So far, drawings, poems, pictures and songs have been submitted. The committee has also encouraged artists interested in helping with the memorial project to share some of their work.

Oct. 1 of this year will mark five years since 60 people were killed and more than 400 others were injured in the shooting. Pereira noted that the committee wanted those who may feel inspired by the anniversary to have ample chance to submit their ideas too.

Creative Expressions can be submitted on the committee’s website or through it’s mobile app, the release said. A collection of work submitted so far can also be viewed online.
