Fresno State defeated the UNLV baseball team 14-13 in a high-scoring game on May 10, following a dramatic comeback at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium. The Rebels had built a five-run lead through the middle innings, but the Bulldogs surged ahead with an eight-run fifth inning and held off multiple late rallies to even the series.

The matchup saw UNLV take an early advantage when Reggie Bussey doubled and later scored due to a Fresno State error. In the fourth inning, Gavin Taylor hit a three-run home run, giving UNLV a 4-1 lead. The Rebels extended their lead to 6-1 in the fifth before Fresno State sent twelve batters to the plate in their half of the inning, collecting seven hits and turning the score around with key contributions from Sky Collins, Brady Hewitt, Owen Faust, and Marcus Nolen.

UNLV fell behind but responded with home runs from Jack Salmon and Drew Barragan in the eighth inning to tie it at 11. However, Faust’s two-run homer for Fresno State in the bottom of that frame helped restore their advantage. Despite Jonny Rodriguez hitting his fifth home run of the series and Myro adding another RBI single for UNLV in the ninth, reliever Douglas Crystal secured Fresno State’s win by recording the final out with runners on base.

Head Coach Stan Stolte said: “Tough one to lose today, couldn’t be prouder offensively, they battled all weekend to the end. Obviously, the bullpen let us down today, was hard to overcome. We still are in it, we have a really solid San Diego State team coming to town, we’ll have to play well for any chance of success.”

Rodriguez finished with five home runs over this series along with thirteen RBIs. Barragan extended his on-base streak across two seasons while Taylor hit his eighth home run this year. Myro continued his hitting streak for thirteen games as Salmon homered for his second consecutive contest.

UNLV will close out its regular season at home against San Diego State from May 14 through May 16.
