Residents of Clark County wishing to get a passport are in luck as the county has picked up the operations after they were paused during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a news release from the county, those interested in getting a passport must schedule an appointment that will be processed at the Marriage License Bureau in the Regional Justice Center, which is located at 201 E. Clark Ave. The typical appointment is 15 minutes.
“Like everyone else, the State Department has been understaffed, so recertifying our facility and staff after COVID took longer than we had anticipated,” Clark County Clerk Lynn Marie Goya said in the release. “But we are opening for business with hours that should complement other passport acceptance facilities by focusing on evening and weekend availability. As people begin traveling again, we know how critical it is to be able to apply for your passport easily and at your convenience.”
Clark County is charging $35 to submit your passport application. After the Clerk’s Office receives a passport application, they are submitted to the State Department for processing. This typically takes six to nine weeks, however those wishing to expedite the process can pay an extra $60 to receive their passport in three to five weeks. Processing of one’s passport begins when the State Department receives the application.
