Those interested in attending the Hanukkah Menorah Lighting can do so on Wednesday Dec. 21.

A Clark County news release states that Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft will take part in a menorah lighting ceremony in the rotunda of the Clark County Government Center at 5 p.m.

“As we enter the winter holiday season, I am pleased to celebrate Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights in Clark County by lighting the fourth candle on the menorah,” Commissioner Naft said in the release. “I would like to encourage anyone who cannot make it in person to tune in via social media to commemorate the miracle of Hanukkah.”

The Chabad of Southern Nevada’s Rabbi Levi Harlig will also be on hand at the ceremony that will include beverages, donuts and a musical number by The Dancing Dreidels as the menorah gets lit. Those wishing to live stream the event can do so by visiting the county’s social media channels.

This year, Hanukkah will take place from Dec. 18 through Dec. 26. The eight-day holiday started on Dec. 18 and will run until sunset Dec. 26 commemorates the rededication during the second century B.C. of the Second Temple in Jerusalem, where according to legend Jews had risen up against their Greek oppressors.
