The University of Nevada, Las Vegas softball team had four players named to the Mountain West All-Conference postseason awards list, with freshman Lauren Fettic earning Pitcher of the Year honors, according to a May 6 announcement from the league office.

These recognitions are significant for the program as it marks the first career Mountain West award for all four honorees: Fettic, senior Keyanahh Chavez, senior Diamond Sefe, and sophomore Mantha Hatzenbeller. The awards highlight individual achievements and underscore the team’s strong performance during conference play.

Fettic is noted as the first Rebel in nearly two decades to earn Pitcher of the Year since Christine Robinson in 2007. She is also the first UNLV pitcher under head coach Kristie Fox to receive this distinction and becomes the first freshman MW pitcher of the year since 2019. During league play, Fettic led her team’s pitching staff with a 2.91 earned run average (ERA), ranking second in conference standings. She made 20 appearances—including 13 starts—logging 86.2 innings and striking out 51 batters, both good for second most in conference play. Her nine wins tied for most in Mountain West competition this season.

Chavez led offensively with a .457 batting average—second best in conference—and tallied a team-high on-base percentage (.576) along with four home runs and twenty runs batted in (RBI). Sefe contributed by starting all league games and finishing with a .406 batting average while scoring eighteen runs and driving in fourteen RBI. Hatzenbeller was recognized as home run leader for UNLV with nine homers—tied fourth overall—and also led her squad in runs scored (20), slugging percentage (.882), RBI (25), and triples (2).

The Scarlet & Gray will begin their Mountain West Softball Championships campaign on Thursday, May 7 at 6 p.m., awaiting their opponent between University of Nevada Reno and Colorado State.
