The first-ever cohort of students enrolled in Pima Medical Institute’s online Master of Science in Organizational Leadership, are now officially graduates. The first masters-level program offered by the healthcare career college began in February 2021 and 13 students completed the program earlier this year. The program offers two specialization options – public health administration and health care administration.

The advanced degree is designed to fit the needs of working professionals looking for leadership roles. Each specialization equips students with the practical and analytical tools needed to lead organizations through today’s many challenges. Those challenges have become even more evident over the last few years, and this program helps to prepare graduates to take a strategic, global and ethical approach to healthcare needs.

“This program fills a significant need, as many students want to continue with their education and move into leadership roles,” said John Streit, Ed.D, Online Master of Science in Organizational Leadership Program Director. “Both of the master’s degree tracks provide strategies and tactics that working professionals can immediately incorporate into their current roles and responsibilities.”

Many of the master’s degree graduates are also graduates of other Pima Medical programs, including Barbara Correll. Correll earned her occupational therapy associate degree and her bachelor’s degree in health care administration before continuing on to the master’s program. When applying for a job, she says she was offered a much larger role, thanks in large part, to her education from Pima Medical.

“This degree totally prepared me for the role as director over three Phoenix-area clinics,” Correll said. “Many master’s degrees are theoretical in nature, but this degree has provided the skills I need to do exactly what I’m doing now and I love it.”

She added, “Choosing to continue my education was certainly a sacrifice, but in the end that sacrifice was worth it. Everything I gave up for a time has come back tenfold. Pima Medical helped me view myself through the lens of success, and I couldn’t be prouder.”

The Master of Science in Organizational Leadership was an addition to an already robust, fully online curriculum. Pima Medical offers multiple bachelor’s degree programs as well as an associate degree in health care administration.
