Senator Carrie Ann Buck, EdD, has recently used her social media platform to comment on the ongoing federal government shutdown and its impact, as well as to celebrate a local achievement. On October 6, 2025, Buck posted, “Just so you know who shutdown the government – it’s the Democrats. We need to take care of American veterans and seniors FIRST before people who are not here legally! Democrats should pass the clean government funding extension and put Americans first!” She included an image in her post sourced from an external website.

The following day, October 7, 2025, Buck addressed the economic consequences of the shutdown for Nevada, stating, “For every week the federal government is shut down, the CEA estimates Nevada’s Gross State Product declines by $140 MILLION. It’s time to end this insanity at once. Pass the clean funding extension NOW. #NV01”

On October 8, 2025, Buck shifted focus to education, congratulating a local school team: “Go Falcons! Congratulations on your perfect score on the NSPF!!!!!!!!”

The ongoing federal government shutdown has led to debates in Congress regarding funding extensions. Disagreements between parties have resulted in delays in passing a clean government funding bill, affecting various federal programs and services. Economic analyses, such as those from the Council of Economic Advisers (CEA), have highlighted the potential for significant financial losses at the state level during prolonged shutdowns, with Nevada projected to lose $140 million in Gross State Product each week the government remains closed.

Senator Buck represents Nevada and has been vocal about prioritizing funding for veterans and seniors over other groups during the budget impasse. Her recent comments reflect broader partisan debates about fiscal priorities and immigration policy.
