City of Las Vegas issued the following announcement on June 2.
Las Vegas City Council met on Wednesday, June 2, at 9 a.m. Below are some agenda items that may be of interest.
Agenda Item 6 – Recognition of the Citizen of the Month: City Council will recognize Juliana Urtubey, a special education teacher, as the June Citizen of the Month. She lives in Ward 3 and was recently named the 2021 National Teacher of the Year.
Agenda Item 12 – Boulder Avenue Complete Street Project: City Council will vote on a contract with Las Vegas Paving, Inc. for complete street improvements, new pavement, widened sidewalks, onstreet parking, landscaping, irrigation, alley reconstruction, installation of storm drain facilities, streetlights, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) infrastructure, signing, striping and utility adjustments on Boulder Avenue from 1st Street to Art Way.
Agenda Item 15 – Health and Wellness Center on Jackson Avenue and D Street: City Council will vote on a contract with PGAL, LLC, for the design and preparation of contract drawings, special provisions, construction cost estimates and reports for a new health and wellness center on the corner of Jackson Avenue and D Street.
Agenda Item 18 – Harris Marion Park: City Council will vote on a contract with Wadley Construction, Inc., for the construction of a partial synthetic soccer field, Musco LED lights, playground with safety surface and shade shelter, restroom building, trash enclosure, tractor building and an arena with irrigation and lighting at Harris Marion Park, 4755 Harris Ave.
Agenda Item 30 – Roadway Improvements Along Rancho Drive: City Council will vote on an agreement with the State of Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) to complete the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) study and preliminary design for the Rancho Drive Complete Streets Project encompassing roadway improvements along Rancho Drive from Mesquite Avenue to Rainbow Boulevard
Agenda Item 31 – Grand Teton Drive Overpass: City Council will vote on an agreement the State of Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) to provide funding for construction of the Grand Teton Drive Overpass at US-95 from Tee Pee Lane to El Capitan Way.
Agenda Item 36 – CSN Office Space at Historic Westside School: City Council will discuss and vote on a sublease with the Nevada System of Higher Education, on behalf of the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) for an office space in the Historic Westside School facility for a term of two years. CSN will be responsible for all costs of tenant improvements and will pay its share of Common Area Maintenance (CAM) charges, rent will be at no charge for the term.
Agenda Item 51 – 2050 Master Plan: City Council will discuss and vote on the 2050 Master Plan. This master plan will serve as the city’s comprehensive, long term general plan for the physical development of the city. The 2050 Master Plan embraces elements required including conservation, historic preservation, housing, land use, public facilities and services, recreation and open space, safety, transportation, and urban agriculture. In addition, the plan includes supplemental content, including water, energy, economic development, redevelopment, food and education. If adopted, the Las Vegas Master Plan 2020 and all associated elements would be repealed, the city of Las Vegas 2050 Master Plan would be adopted, and the General Plan / future land use designations for the subject properties would be amended from various categories to new land use designations
Agenda Item 52 – COVID-19 Response Report: Carolyn Levering, Office of Emergency Management (OEM), will provide City Council with a report on the OEM’s role in coordination of city resources in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the vision for future planning, training, exercising and response capabilities.
