National Atomic Museum issued the following announcement on June 15.
June 15, 1966 | On this day in 1966, the United States conducted the Double Play underground nuclear test in a tunnel at Area 16 on the Nevada Test Site, now the Nevada National Security Site. Part of Operation Flintlock, Double Play was a weapons effects test and had an explosive yield of less than 20 kilotons, or less than twenty thousand tons of TNT.
Featured is a photograph of the certificate that test site workers would receive to certify that they participated in Double Play. We have many certificates just like this at the museum!
Do you want to learn more about underground and weapons effects testing? The NATM is currently open to the public, so be sure to plan your visit to the museum today. You can pre-purchase tickets here: https://nationalatomictestingmuseum.doubleknot.com/.../23597
