The Henderson Silver Knights announced that they signed defenseman Derrick Pouliot to a one-year American Hockey League contract July 31.
This will be Pouliot’s eighth professional season. The 27-year-old Estevan, Saskatchewan native spent the 2019-2020 season playing for the AHL's Lehigh Valley Phantoms, scoring three goals and managing 11 assists for 14 points total, according to The AHL.
“We've signed Derrick Pouliot to a one-year AHL contract for the 2021-22 season!” the Henderson Silver Knights wrote in a July 31 Twitter post.
Over the course of his career, Pouliot has appeared in 197 AHL games playing for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, San Antonio Rampage, and Phantoms, scoring 30 goals and 123 points, has a earned plus-6 rating and participated in two AHL All-Star Classics in 2015 and 2020, according to Las Vegas 8 News Now.
In the 2019-20 season, he played a career best with San Antonio, finishing sixth among AHL defensemen in scoring with 32 assists and 39 points, according to the Henderson Silver Knights. In 2016, he was a member of the Penguins’ Stanley Cup Championship team.
Pouliot is the second player to sign an AHL contract with the Silver Knights for the 2021-22 season and joins forward newly-signed Jermaine Loewen.
