A tourist in the Las Vegas valley was recently ticketed after a Boulder City police officer clocked the visitor traveling at 150 miles per hour in a rented Lamborghini on U.S. 93, according to an 8 News Now report.
The Boulder City police officer issued a ticket to the driver for several violations, including reckless driving on a public highway and endangering the public according to a Facebook post from the Boulder City Police Department on Nov 5.
“Boulder City police ticket Lamborghini driver for speeding 150 mph," Velma Jones tweeted Nov 6, "Should be in jail.”
Additionally, according to the department's Facebook post, the driver was fined $1190 and given eight demerit points on their license, as well as a "courtesy trip to the Henderson Detention Center."
"We all know it's tempting to drive a Lamborghini like we are on a racetrack, but the Interstate is not the place to do that," the Boulder City Police Department stated on Facebook. "In fact, Las Vegas has multiple racetrack experiences that you can legally drive that fast in an exotic car."
Following two fatal collisions involving rented exotic automobiles in September, Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft has requested the county to review how rental firms receive licenses and insurance, 8 News Now reported.
Additionally, Nevada's Office of Traffic Safety is compiling data on accidents involving exotic car rentals and anticipates releasing its results in December or January.
