Nevada state Sen. Joe Hardy recently announced that he will be making a run for mayor of Boulder City in 2022.

Boulder City Review reported that the state Senator announced Dec. 23 that he will make his run this year.

“State Senator Joe Hardy spoke this morning at the Sunrise Rotary club, praising all that is good about our beloved town," Boulder City Social tweeted. "AND he announced his intentions to run for Mayor of Boulder City!”

Hardy previously served as a Boulder City Council member from 1999-2002 before being elected to the Nevada Legislature. He said that his experience as assemblyman and senator will well serve the city, Boulder City review reported.

He also said that the contacts and relationships he has built through his career as an elected politician will be of benefit to Boulder City and its residents.

“I have the talents and abilities to understand the process,” Hardy said, according to Boulder City Review. “And I love to serve. Boulder City has been a blessed place for me. I would like to serve not only the people of Boulder City but the city of Boulder City.”

Hardy also previously served as dean of clinical education for Touro University Nevada in Henderson. He and his wife Jill have eight children and several grandchildren.
