The "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign was recently highlighted with green accents on its perimeter lights for Mental Health Awareness Month.
Commissioners were joined by the area's office of the National Alliance on Mental Illness and Hope Means Nevada to change the lights, a recent news release from the Clark County government said.
“One out of every five Americans lives with a mental health condition,” Commissioner William McCurdy II said in the release. “NAMI Southern Nevada supports those living with mental health issues and their families and works to eliminate the stigma associated with mental illness.”
Hope Means Nevada is spearheading efforts to combat suicide among youths by cultivating a mental health culture that is centered on empathy and advocacy, the release said.
The "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign, located in an unincorporated part of the county, normally has perimeter lights that are yellow.
