In Southern Nevada and around the rest of the country, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is being celebrated and recognized in a variety of ways.
According to a press release from the Clark County government, the local Thai community in Southern Nevada is the focus of a popular television and podcast series called "Cultures of Las Vegas: The Thais." The program is scheduled to air on Clark County Television throughout May in recognition of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
The show is hosted by Patranya Bhoolsuwan, a former KLAS TV reporter, and founder and owner of Patranya Media LLC.
Accompanying Bhoolsuwan on the show will be John Zeigler, president of the Las Vegas Children Foundation, Nevada Assemblywoman Cecilia Gonzales, Attorney Ranee Samerthai, Onpreeya Long, Claudia Nipakorri Long of the Pong Lang Las Vegas Dance Group, and others.
"We all have different reasons for wanting to live here, but at the same time, we also share a common thread,"Bhoolsuwan said. "Thai culture is rich and you see that in our arts, language, and of course food! I am thankful that through this show 'Cultures of Las Vega,' Clark County is giving us the space to share our unique story through the wonderful people in this community."
