To kick off Father’s Day weekend, Clark County Commission Chairman Jim Gibson was on hand for the "A Slice of Summer" event on Friday, June 17.
According to a news release shared by the Clark County government, the event was held at the Paradise Recreation Center, located at 4775 McLeod Drive in the southeast portion of the city.
“I’m not sure there is a better way to celebrate fathers than to participate in an event the entire family can enjoy,” said Chairman Gibson in the release.
Moreover, the first 200 people who came to the festivity received food from Abuela's Tacos. Clark County reported that the event had a bounce house, carnival games, restaurant and children 13 and up got to ride a mechanical bull.
Gibson added: “The Paradise Recreation Center is located within a well-established community in District G. I am pleased we can host an event such as this to kick off summer and highlight the amenities and activities this facility has to offer to the area.”
The release reports that the 27,811 square foot Paradise Recreation Center offers an array of community programs, from free music lessons to senior activities.
“Great turnout at our pre–Father’s Day weekend event at Paradise Park. Thank you Abuela's Tacos and LVMPD SCAC for coming out today,” Gibson wrote on Facebook.
