The longest-running male revue in history of Las Vegas was recently honored with a Key to the Strip.
According to a news release shared by the Clark County government, Thunder From Down Under, whose origins can be traced to Australia, is believed to be the oldest going male revue on the planet.
“Thunder from Down Under has been performing at Excalibur for 20 years and 21 years before that at the New Frontier on the Strip,” Commissioner Michael Naft said in the release. “It is the longest-running male revue worldwide and more than 1 million people have seen this show. Visitors often make reservations months in advance. This is an achievement and a cultural phenomenon that benefits Las Vegas and I’m happy to recognize the show. I’m particularly pleased that they have signed a new contract with MGM Resorts that guarantees that Thunder will be at the Excalibur at least 10 more years.”
According to the release, last week was a special occasion as it marked the anniversary of when Thunder opened in 2002 at the Excalibur and when Thunder opened in 2001 at the New Frontier.
According to Adam Steck, co-owner of Thunder and CEO of SPI Entertainment: "On behalf of Thunder From Down Under and my business partner, Billy Cross, I would like to thank the Clark County commissioners and especially Commissioner Michael Naft for this honor. We are excited and humbled to receive the Key to the Las Vegas Strip. It's an incredible feeling and we love being part of ‘The Entertainment Capital of the World.’ We will cherish this honor."
The cast of Thunder From Down Under is 90 percent Australian with the rest of the members hailing New Zealand.
