Henderson, Nev. – On June 12, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the City of Henderson Police and Fire Departments responded to the 500 block of Marks Street following reports of a shooting incident.

Multiple 9-1-1 calls indicated that a shooting had occurred between two males in the parking lot of a shopping center.

Preliminary investigations by detectives revealed that a 38-year-old male approached a vehicle with a firearm in his hand in a confrontational manner. A second male inside the vehicle discharged his firearm at the 38-year-old, striking him. After being shot, the 38-year-old male fired multiple rounds from his firearm as the vehicle drove away.

Officers and paramedics attempted lifesaving measures; however, the male succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

No other injuries were reported aside from those sustained by the decedent.

The male who initially discharged his firearm remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Detectives are investigating this homicide as possibly being self-defense, and no arrests have been made.

As this is an open and ongoing investigation, no further details will be provided at this time.

The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office after next-of-kin notifications.

This marks the fifth homicide for the City of Henderson in 2024.
