The Henderson Fire Department is set to graduate its largest-ever class of 33 new firefighters from its academy on Thursday, July 18. The graduates have completed a rigorous 20-week training program that included education in hazardous chemicals, emergency medical procedures, and firefighting skills.
"This class of 33 new firefighters is a testament to how seriously Henderson takes public safety," said Henderson Fire Chief Shawn White. "Our City will continue to maintain a premier fire department, and these new recruits will help keep Henderson one of the safest cities in the country."
Upon being sworn in, the graduates will take up full-time positions across the department’s 13 fire stations, including Station 92 in West Henderson, which is currently under construction and scheduled to open in early 2025.
The next recruitment period for the department is expected to open in the fall. Those interested in pursuing a career in fire service can visit the Henderson Fire Department’s new recruitment website, JoinHendersonFire.com.
The graduation ceremony will take place at Mosaic Church located at 9220 Manhattan Rd., Henderson, NV 89074 on Thursday, July 18 at 11 a.m.
