Congresswoman Susie Lee, representing Nevada's 3rd district since 2019, recently addressed the issue of gun violence and its impact on the community through a series of tweets. These posts reflect her ongoing commitment to addressing this critical issue affecting her constituents.
On December 6, 2024, Congresswoman Lee expressed her concern over the normalization of gun violence. She stated, "But we must end this sick cycle of gun violence, and it can never be normalized. This was not normal last year and it is not normal today."
In another tweet posted on the same day, she mourned the loss of three professors from UNLV. She wrote, "By day’s end, three professors were taken from us: Patricia Navarro Velez, Jerry Cha-Jan Chang, and Naoko Takemaru. My heart is with their families, UNLV, and our southern Nevada community today."
Reflecting on a past incident at UNLV involving students and faculty being instructed to take cover during an emergency situation, Congresswoman Lee tweeted: "One year ago, UNLV students and faculty were instructed to RUN-HIDE-FIGHT. They barricaded themselves behind classroom doors. They hid under their desks. They texted their family ‘I love you.’"
