Congresswoman Susie Lee, who represents Nevada’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, used her social media platform this week to highlight legislative action on organized retail crime and interactions with other political figures.
On May 12, Lee posted, “Our local and state law enforcement are doing incredible work, but they can’t tackle organized retail crime alone. It’s time for Republicans and Democrats to come together and pass the Combating Organized Retail Crime Act to support our local businesses, equip our law” (May 12, 2026).
Later that day, she announced the passage of her legislation in the House of Representatives. In a tweet dated May 12, Lee stated, “PASSED: My bipartisan Combating Organized Retail Crime Act just passed the House! Organized retail crime costs Nevada over $1 billion/year — I’m proud that Republicans and Democrats just came together to crack down on it. Now let’s get this bill passed through the Senate and” (May 12, 2026).
On May 13, Lee commented on an interaction with Secretary Burgum by posting, “I was there trying to tell Secretary Burgum but he wouldn’t listen!” (May 13, 2026).
Organized retail crime has been a significant concern for Nevada businesses. According to Lee’s statements in Congress and online posts, such crimes cost the state more than $1 billion annually.
Lee has represented Nevada’s 3rd District since replacing Jacky Rosen in 2019. She was born in Canton, Ohio in 1966 and currently resides in Las Vegas. Lee holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carnegie Mellon University.
