UNLV diving teams finish first day at NCAA Zone E Championships

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas men’s and women’s diving teams completed the first day of competition at the NCAA Zone E Diving Championship on March 9 at the Wall Aquatic Center in Flagstaff, Arizona.

The event marks an important opportunity for divers to qualify for the NCAA Championships, drawing athletes from across the region to compete in preliminary rounds.

For the men’s team, freshman Evan Stingley participated in the 3-meter preliminaries and achieved a score of 260.50, placing him 33rd overall. On the women’s side, sophomore Allyse Abbott represented UNLV in the 1-meter preliminaries and recorded her best career finish at a zone meet with a score of 231.75, earning her 30th place overall.

The NCAA Zone E Diving Championships are set to continue Tuesday, with preliminary rounds beginning at 10:30 a.m. Pacific Time.

The results from this championship will determine which divers advance to the national stage later this season.
