The University of Nevada, Las Vegas men’s and women’s diving teams finished their participation at the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships on March 11 at the Wall Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington.
The event marked the end of the season for several UNLV divers as they competed against top athletes from across the region. The championships serve as a qualifying meet for the upcoming NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
In the men’s competition, freshman Evan Stingley took part in the 1-meter dive finals and secured 18th place with a total score of 534.60. On the women’s side, sophomore Allyse Abbott competed in the platform preliminaries and finished 31st with a score of 220.35.
Looking ahead, UNLV will still have representation at the national level. Ava Olson, Rachel Wigginton, Bryson Huey, and Ian Belflower are set to compete at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Atlanta from March 18 to March 28.
The conclusion of Zone E marks an important milestone for both teams as they prepare to support their teammates advancing to nationals.
