The University of Nevada, Las Vegas Rebels baseball team will travel to Fresno State for a three-game series beginning Friday, May 8 and concluding Sunday, May 10. The first game is scheduled to start at 6:05 pm, followed by games on Saturday and Sunday at 3:05 pm and 12:05 pm respectively.
This upcoming Mountain West Conference matchup comes after the Rebels lost to Brigham Young University earlier in the week. Notable performances included Drew Barragan extending his on-base streak to 47 games dating back to last season, Jayden Hertel recording consecutive three-hit games, and Gunnar Myro reaching a ten-game hitting streak. Both teams used multiple pitchers during the contest.
Fans can follow the series through live stats, video streams, and updates on UNLV’s official website and social media channels. Last weekend, UNLV won two out of three games against Milwaukee Panthers with strong offensive showings in their victories and a notable comeback in the final game led by Barragan’s three-run home run that tied the score before they secured an 8-7 win.
The current roster features significant new talent with twenty-six newcomers joining this season; seventeen made their debuts in the opening nonconference series. Key returning players include All-Mountain West First Team honoree Carson Lane as well as Cooper Sheff and Gunnar Myro. Lane was recently named to the conference’s preseason all-team following a strong previous year highlighted by helping throw UNLV’s first no-hitter since 2003.
Fresno State brings sixteen returners and twenty-one newcomers into this matchup. Senior Griffen Sotomayor leads their offense with a .331 batting average over thirty-five games while Brady Hewitt has contributed fifty-six hits across forty-five starts. The Bulldogs recently earned their second conference win of the season against Washington State.
Looking ahead, UNLV’s schedule includes fifty-five regular-season games with thirty-two home contests—thirty-one at Earl E. Wilson Stadium—and several matchups against teams that participated in last year’s NCAA Tournament.
