The UNLV Hustlin’ Rebels will travel to Phoenix Municipal Stadium to play No. 20 Arizona State on April 8, with the first pitch set for 6:35 p.m., according to an April 7 announcement. This game concludes a home-and-home series between the two teams.
This matchup is significant as it continues a long-standing rivalry that dates back to 1974, with Arizona State leading the all-time series against UNLV. The Sun Devils have won six of the last seven meetings since the 2023 season.

The Rebels recently faced New Mexico, winning one out of three games in their last home series. Several newcomers have made immediate impacts this season, with Marcos Rosales appearing in all contests so far and multiple new players contributing both at bat and on the mound.
Preseason predictions placed UNLV sixth in their conference for the current season, while junior pitcher Carson Lane was named to the Mountain West Preseason All-Conference Team after a strong previous year that included helping throw a no-hitter against Fresno State. Veterans Cooper Sheff and Gunnar Myro also return to strengthen the lineup alongside key transfers like Parker Dillhoff and Felix Ong joining as starting pitchers.
Arizona State enters this game after winning three out of four games last week, including a series victory over rival Arizona. Landon Hairston leads ASU’s offense with a .461 batting average and is also their top home run hitter and RBI producer. On the mound, Cole Carlon has posted a team-best earned run average among starters while freshman Austin Musso is scheduled as Wednesday’s starter.
Looking ahead, UNLV’s schedule features five games against teams from last season’s NCAA Tournament across its total of 55 regular-season matchups.
