UNLV swimmers Olson and Wigginton to compete at NCAA championships

UNLV junior Ava Olson and freshman Rachel Wigginton will represent the university at the 2026 NCAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships, which will take place from March 18 to 21 at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta.

Olson, who is from Tulare, California, is scheduled to compete in both the 1650 freestyle and the 500 freestyle events. This marks her first appearance at a national championship. She is ranked 49th in the 1650 free with a time of 16:23.21 and 57th in the 500 free with a time of 4:43.08 among those entered in these races. Olson qualified for nationals by breaking program records in both events during the Mountain West championships, where she also earned gold in the 500 free and bronze in the 1650 free.

Wigginton, hailing from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, will also make her debut at a national championship. She will swim in the 200 butterfly and enters ranked 53rd with a qualifying time of 1:57.08. Wigginton secured her spot by winning gold in this event at the Mountain West Championships.
