The UNLV women’s golf team completed its first tournament of the spring season at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge, held at Palos Verdes Golf Club in California. The event was hosted by Ohio State.
Junior Zi Yu Foong led the Rebels with a 27th-place finish at six over par. Sophomore Amber Chen recorded an even-par round of 71 on the final day, moving up eight spots to end in 41st place at eight over par. Freshman Demi Du finished in 72nd place at fifteen over, freshman Lana Yamagata took 76th at seventeen over, and junior Jane Huang finished 81st at twenty-one over.
UCLA won the team title, maintaining the lead throughout all three rounds and finishing with a total score of eight under par (844). Jeonghyun Lee from UCLA and Farah O’Keefe from Texas shared individual medalist honors, each shooting five under par for the tournament.
UNLV placed fourteenth out of sixteen teams with a total score of thirty-nine over par. The field included several highly ranked programs such as USC, Oregon, Florida, Texas A&M, Pepperdine, Texas, Arizona State, South Carolina, and UCLA.
The Rebels will next compete in the Westbrook Invitational hosted by Wisconsin from February 22-23.
