The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) women’s tennis team won against Fresno State with a score of 4-1 on April 13, wrapping up its road schedule at the Spalding Wathen Tennis Center. The match was played on a Monday due to weather concerns in the area.

This victory keeps UNLV tied for first place in the Mountain West Conference with a record of 16-3 overall and 9-1 in conference play. The Rebels have now won 13 out of their last 14 matches and remained undefeated away from Las Vegas this season.

In doubles competition, Hudson Hawkins and Nikol Mircheva defeated Eliza Dunbar and Klara Vukicevic, while Kaho Oyama and Sofiia Sokolvak secured another win for UNLV by beating Sofia Pizzoni and Paulina Montiel. These results gave UNLV the doubles point early in the match.

During singles play, Hawkins quickly earned another point for UNLV by defeating Giulia Lodovici. Sokolvak followed with a win over Louna Cormier, and Mircheva closed out the team victory by overcoming Pizzoni. “Silverado High School grad Hudson Hawkins helped with the doubles shutout and then raced to another point in singles play to improve to 17-7, including 12-3 in duals, since transferring back home to Las Vegas,” according to information provided by UNLV.

Looking ahead, UNLV will host its in-state rival University of Nevada Reno (UNR) on Friday as part of the Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union. The match will start at 10 a.m., with free admission at Fertitta Tennis Complex.
