The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) women’s tennis team secured its seventh Mountain West regular-season championship with a 4-0 victory over the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) on April 17 at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

This achievement is significant as it marks UNLV’s first regular-season crown since 2019 and sets a new program record for conference wins with a 10-1 mark. The Rebels finished in a tie atop the standings alongside San Diego State and Boise State. The Wolf Pack concluded their season at 9-11 overall and 5-6 in conference play.

In doubles competition, UNLV claimed two out of three matches to secure the opening point. Nikol Mircheva and Hudson Hawkins won their match against Marlene Foerster and Siliva Costache, while Veronika Kliuch and Eszter Kis-Czako clinched another win over Petra Janigova and Amahe Charrier. In singles play, Mircheva led by defeating Foerster; Sofiia Sokolvak followed with a win against Janigova; and Kaho Oyama sealed the overall victory by overcoming Wiem Boubaker.

Junior Nikol Mircheva was recognized as “Rebel of the Match” after contributing to both doubles and singles victories. She improved her individual record to 19-6 overall, including an undefeated streak in conference dual matches this season.

Looking ahead, UNLV will enter the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Women’s Tennis Championship with a first-round bye. The tournament begins Wednesday at Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas, where the Rebels are set to open play on Thursday.
