Henderson Police Conclude Joining Forces Targeting Impaired Drivers

City of Henderson issued the following announcement on September 16.

The Henderson Police Department concluded its 16th and final campaign under the 2021 Joining Forces Program. 

During the enforcement initiative that ran from September 2nd through September 13th, 2021, Henderson Police stopped 486 motorists resulting in 400 citations.

Of the 486 traffic stops, Traffic Officers completed 8 arrests for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and assisted patrol with 19 DUI investigations. 187 drivers were cited for speeding, 28 cited for distracted driving (such as cell phone use), 27 cited for red light violations, 21 cited for no insurance, as well as several other citations issued for other traffic related offenses.

The Henderson Police Department received $220,000 in federal funding for the enhanced enforcement initiatives through the Nevada Department of Public Safety - Office of Traffic Safety for the 2021 Joining Forces program.  

The grant provides funding for enhanced enforcement and education to reduce deaths and injuries on Nevada roadways. Enforcement events during the year focus on pedestrian safety, seat belt use, speeding, distracted driving and impaired driving.
