The Employ NV Business Hub will be among the first in the country to feature a “one-stop shop” for employers in a city hall building.

Jaime Cruz, executive director of Workforce Connections, Southern Nevada’s workforce development board, said the hub, which opens on October 19 in Henderson City Hall, will offer talent recruitment, hiring assistance, financial incentives, employee training and information about access to capital. The services are offered at no cost to employers.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy,” Cruz told SE Vegas News. “Through financial incentives and other resources, the hub will help small businesses recover and grow again.”

Businesses of any size may use the resources available at the hub.

This helps “align workforce development investments in Southern Nevada to match existing economic development efforts,” Cruz said. “... Small businesses seem to benefit the most because they do not have dedicated staff to do recruitment, hiring and training.”

The hub will be adjacent to the office where business licenses are issued, easing the access for employers to receive assistance.

“It conveniently places no-cost employment and training services for employers next to other services available at City Hall, like business licensing, permitting, plan checks, etc.,” Cruz said.

Overseen by Workforce Connections, the Employ NV Business Hub is part of a network of one-stop centers serving employers and prospective employees across Southern Nevada. The network is meant to maintain a talent pipeline that meets the needs of the area’s businesses, Cruz said.

According to the recent 2021 Niche.com ranking, 10 of the top 22 best places to live in Nevada are neighborhoods in Henderson. Of these, one neighborhood achieved the highest rating for the state. The city was also ranked the second safest large city in America in 2020 by AdvisorSmith, KTNV reported.

In a June news release from the City of Henderson, the city stated its parks were ranked in the top 22% of the 100 most populated U.S. cities, calculated according to the ParkScore index released by the Trust for Public Land.
