HPD Breaks Ground on New West Henderson Substation
Mayor Debra March, Police Chief Thedrick Andres, officials from the Police Department and other dignitaries participated in a groundbreaking for HPD's newest police substation and training center in West Henderson – the department's first area command expansion since 2007.
The new 52,000-square-foot substation, located near Via Inspirada and Volunteer Boulevard, will help HPD and the City of Henderson maintain its commitment to public safety as the City continues to experience rapid growth. The substation will feature briefing and meeting rooms, offices, locker rooms and a fitness center. In addition, the City of Henderson’s dispatch center will relocate from the Henderson Police Headquarters to the second floor of the new facility.
The training center for the Henderson Police Academies will relocate to the new substation as well and will feature state-of-the-art classrooms, training rooms, a defensive tactics room, an outdoor track and more. The PENTA Building Group will construct the facility, which will cost approximately $22.3 million. Once construction is complete in late 2022, HPD plans to build a permanent K-9 Memorial at the site of the substation.
Move with the Mayor initiatives include Mayor-led community walks, ensuring all residents have access to a recreational area within a 10-minute walk as well as providing healthy snack and drink options in our staff's Cafe 240 vending machines.
