The City of Henderson is calling on artists to lend a helping hand with a beautification project at Wells Park.
A mural will be commissioned as part of NFL Pro Bowl Community Day on Feb. 3, according to Las Vegas’s NBC affiliate KSNV.
“Calling all artists!” the city’s official Twitter account posted on Jan. 3. “We're teaming up with the NFL and the Boys & Girls Club of Southern Nevada for an NFL Pro Bowl Community Day to beautify Wells Park — where we'll unveil an interactive new mural. Will it be yours?”
Through Jan. 17, Henderson is accepting applications for artists to work on the mural with NFL members and local youth.
KSNV reported that one artist or group of artists will be picked for the project, which they will have one week to complete, and receive $13,500 in compensation when they finish.
The artwork will grace the exterior walls of the Boys & Girls Club adjacent to Well Parks and will embody the theme, “We are Wells — A Place Where We Play.”
Football, sports and other outdoor activities will be featured on the mural, according to KSNV.
The station said that project aspirants should visit https://www.cityofhenderson.com/government/departments/parks-and-recreation/cultural-arts/artist-opportunities to apply or gather more information.
