Clark County is seeking feedback regarding what dangers the community faces to stimulate community resiliency and update contingency plans.
Surrounding regions are also asked to respond to a survey based on 11 questions that will help the county revise its Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan, according to a county news release.
“We encourage countywide participation in the survey among our residents and businesses in rural and urban areas of our community,” Clark County Deputy Fire Chief Billy Samuels said in the release. Samuels oversees the department’s Office of Emergency Management.
Residents will have until Aug. 31 to provide feedback, which previously prioritized wildfire, flooding, communicable disease, earthquakes, power failures, and high heat as the main threats.
“The survey also will tell us about the state of preparedness among our residents so we can work to address needs as part of our future hazard mitigation planning,” Samuels said.
For communities to receive non-emergency disaster funds, they must update their hazard mitigation plans in line with the Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000, along with protocols by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the state.
