The 1 October Memorial Committee advocated on their own behalf by going to a First Friday event and asking artists to partake in feedback for the memorial.

The event was held Aug. 5 with residents and visitors asked to provide feedback, according to a news release provided by the Clark County government.

“We are excited to be at First Friday this week and grateful for the opportunity to meet with local artists and residents to encourage participation in our Call for Creative Expressions and other outreach efforts,” Tennille Pereira, committee chairwoman, said in the news release. "We are receiving some wonderful submissions to our online gallery and hope they inspire others to share their creativity.”

First Friday is a monthly event held in downtown Las Vegas to support local arts and culture, the release reported. The committee set up a table near the Casino Center in the Free Arts Tent at the Arts Factory.

Area artist Harold Bradford, committee member, was on hand along with fellow member Rebecca Holden to provide feedback about the committee design and construction timeline, according to the release. The Clark County's Parks and Recreation Department also had a staff member on hand to answer questions.

Those still interested in providing their artistic expression can do so by visiting the committee's website and submit material for its Call for Creative Expressions, the release reported.
