Susie Lee, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Nevada's 3rd district, has been vocal about economic and environmental issues affecting her state. Originating from Canton, Ohio, Lee pursued her education at Carnegie Mellon University before settling in Las Vegas. Since taking office in 2019, Lee has consistently addressed key matters through various social and political platforms.
On April 2, 2025, Lee criticized "Liberation Day," referring to it as a tax burden on the middle class exacerbating inflationary pressures. She stated "Today’s 'Liberation Day' is a new middle-class tax that stokes the flames of inflation. Economists across the spectrum agree that blanket tariffs jack up the cost of groceries, housing, gas, cars, and countless other products working Nevadans rely on. We’ve already seen Trump."
Continuing her support for local economic development, Lee attended the Latina in Business event organized by NAHREP Las Vegas on April 4, 2025. She expressed her commitment to the growth of Latina-owned businesses stating, "Great to join NAHREP Las Vegas today for their third annual Latinas in Business event! Latina-owned businesses are quickly growing in Nevada and are helping power our local economy. I’m committed to uplifting and supporting them."
In advocating for environmental conservation, Lee highlighted on April 5, 2025, the issue of abandoned mines in Nevada. She detailed her efforts in championing a "Good Sam" law designed to facilitate cleanup activities by nonprofits and agencies. Lee explained, "Nevada has thousands of abandoned mines. Many are poisoning waters, threatening tribal lands, & injuring or killing trespassers. I championed a 'Good Sam' law that cuts red tape so Good Samaritan nonprofits & agencies, like @TroutUnlimited, that want to help clean up now can."
