Congresswoman Susie Lee, representing Nevada's 3rd district since 2019, has recently shared her concerns on social media regarding federal budget proposals and their implications for education and healthcare. Lee, who has been vocal about issues affecting Nevadans, posted a series of tweets addressing these topics.
On March 4, 2025, Congresswoman Lee highlighted the potential impact of federal budget cuts on education programs. She referenced Michelle, "a Nevada education advocate and mom of three—including a son with autism," emphasizing that with current federal investments in students and special education programs under threat, she would be closely monitoring the President's statements that evening. "With federal investments for students, special ed programs, and even the entire Dept. of Education on the chopping block..."
The following day, March 5, 2025, Lee expressed disappointment after listening to the President’s address. She noted that despite spending two hours listening to him speak, there was no mention of plans to alleviate living costs for Nevada families. Instead, she criticized new tariffs that could increase costs and a budget proposal that might strip healthcare from millions while offering tax breaks elsewhere. "I listened to the President for two hours and not once did I hear a plan to lower the cost of living for Nevada families..."
Later on March 5th, Lee addressed proposed cuts to Social Security by DOGE (Department of Government Expenditure), indicating these reductions would make it more challenging for Nevadans to receive their Social Security benefits as earned. "DOGE cuts to Social Security will make it harder for Nevadans to get their hard-earned Social Security checks."
