Uniquely situated near an international airport, an executive airport and major interstate highways, Henderson provides businesses with a pool of more than 27 million workers and 1 million businesses within a five-hour drive.
“Henderson leads Nevada cities in the level of education attainment by its residents,” Mayor Debra March told Southeast Vegas News. “Nearly half have earned an Associate degree or higher. Businesses can recruit and retain high-caliber personnel.”
The city of Henderson maintains an AA+ bond rating with Standard and Poor’s, the highest rating among the incorporated cities in Nevada.

“As part of the city of Henderson’s strategic plan, we target an array of industries to attract more and better-paying jobs to the area, including advanced manufacturing and logistics, health care and life sciences, corporate headquarters and global finance, and technology,” March said.
The strategy has been working. Google, Amazon, FedEx and Haas Automation, the world’s largest builder of machines that build machines, have established themselves in Henderson.
“These companies bring many new and high-salary jobs to the area and prove to be strong community partners,” March said. “Henderson offers a pro-business climate that lowers costs and supports greater success.”
Those lower costs include quality of life factors like housing. For example, Henderson boasts the highest average home value in the state, and property tax rates are the lowest of any major city in Nevada at 77 cents for every $100 in assessed value, according to data from the mayor’s office.
Henderson was also ranked the second safest large city in America in 2020 by AdvisorSmith.
“While lower costs yield greater profitability, Henderson’s impressive quality of life is attractive to businesses and residents alike,” March said.
Henderson has been recognized as one of America’s Best Places to Live by Money magazine, one of America’s Best Cities by Businessweek, and one of the Safest Cities in America by Forbes. According to a recent 2021 Niche.com ranking, 10 of the top 22 best places to live in Nevada are neighborhoods in the city of Henderson, including the neighborhood ranked number one in the state.
Residents especially enjoy the city’s 70 parks and 180 miles of trails. In fact, Henderson is ranked in the top 22% of the 100 most populated U.S. cities according to the ParkScore index recently released by the Trust for Public Land.
“We are proud to be a two-time Gold Medal winner for the best parks and recreation system in the nation as awarded by the National Recreation and Park Association,” March said.
Another perk is Henderson’s link to professional sports leagues.
“We are now home to four professional sports franchises with the Las Vegas Raiders’ headquarters and training center, the Henderson Silver Knights based at Lifeguard Arena, the headquarters for the Las Vegas Aces WNBA team, and the new indoor football league franchise the Vegas Knight Hawks who will play at the new Dollar Loan Center slated to open March 2022,” March said.
