A new all-way stop sign is decreasing traffic congestion at the intersection of Theme Road and Desert Inn Road on Sunrise Mountain.

Traffic was disrupted in September when the Clark County Department of Public Works completed an expansion of Desert Inn Road to Hollywood Boulevard, according to a news release from the county. A bridge over the Las Vegas Wash was added, as well.

"I want to thank our Department of Public Works for its quick work in addressing this issue," Tick Segerblom, Clark County commissioner, said in the news release.

A November study revealed that there was an increase in traffic along Desert Inn Road, the news release noted. Construction in the area contributed to the congestion and justified installation of an all-way stop sign at Theme Road.

"With improvements along Desert Inn Road, more motorists in this area are using it as an arterial, and the increased traffic flow made it difficult for residents living off Theme Road to come and go from their neighborhood," Segerblom said. "The stop signs have made the situation much easier for residents to access Desert Inn Road in a more timely and safe manner."

Local residents can use a tool called FixIt Clark County to report traffic concerns and other issues, according to the news release. The tool can be viewed on the county's website or through an app downloaded from the website, Google Play store, or Apple App store.
